It's the last day of January. That's always nice no matter where in the northern hemisphere you are. Today, I have decided is also the day that I start blogging on my new blog. It is still in the process of being written but I think it is time to rip of the bandaid and just go for it.
Thank you very much for reading immovingtoalaska.blogspot.com for the past three years. I am excited to keep blogging on alaskaInspired.blogspot.com

DIY
The new blog is still being created and I am realizing that it will probably not be really up and running until after I finish my thesis. My thesis, which is due in 2 months. And shall be defended in 4. Yes, this spring will be mighty busy but filled with good, exciting, fun things too. I intend to stay positive about it and hopefully anxiety free.
We are having a very warm January - it actually feels like March with lots of sun and only -5 C (20-something F). The light is coming back to the point where the 9-5 day is actually accompanied by light all the way through. That is exciting and we Fairbanks folks can have many, very long, small-talk conversations about it.
My head is exploding with plans for when the snow melts (about three months from now haha). Mostly garden, clean-up, decorating, re-arranging, building plans. Oh how I wish I was more of a carpenter. However youtube does help. For example did I figure out how to mount a sink this week. And build a foundation - not that I need to do that. I am also following a long list of design and DIY (Do It Yourself for those who don't know) blogs. They all have great suggestions and ideas for how to make cheap changes at home. Sometimes I wonder if they are really helpful though. Or if they are just making me feel like my home is not good as it is. That I should be craving more, something different, more colorful or retro. But I can't stop reading them. And I can tell from their comments that other readers feel the same way. Like a moth to a flame, we are all sucked in. My hope is that at least I am a sucker for something slightly off mainstream culture. Something slightly less materialistic or at least a "recycling, use what you have materialism"?
